Meet the Maker

Thrasher Knits is currently a team of one. My name is Caroline Thrasher, and I’m the owner and maker of Thrasher Knits.

I began knitting in 2019 and it was love at first stitch. A few years and many knits later, my creative outlet has blossomed into a very small business. With a fine arts background, my knits are inspired by a love of color, texture, and the magic that can happen when you put the two together.

Whether its a hat, scarf, or small knit accessory, know that every item you purchase from Thrasher Knits is made by hand with love.

What’s in a Name?

The name “Thrasher Knits” came from the serendipitous crossroads of my last name and my love for nature. How convient is it to share a name with a cute brown bird!?

Featuring a bird in my logo also honors Magpie Knits, the shop in Charlottesville, Virginia where I first learned to knit (check them out! https://www.magpieknits.com/).

Sustainability

Through my education, I came to realize the importance of caring for the environment. So it was important to me to bring this care and thoughtfulness into Thrasher Knits. As Thrasher Knits grows, I am committed to using eco-friendly packaging and ethically, sustainably sourced yarn and materials. I am also committed to wasting as little as possible: I will reuse cardboard boxes and packing materials whenever possible and will use all yarn scraps to knit or fill other projects.

I take pride in sourcing high quality and luxury yarn from companies that are committed to ethical practices and sustainability. These companies ensure that their supply chain is eco-friendly and socially responsible by providing fair wages and ethical working conditions. They also use exclusively environmentally safe dyes—safer for you and the planet!

Cruelty Free

Furthermore, I love animals and am committed to only sourcing wool yarns from companies that do not practice mulesing on their sheep.

I also use pom poms that are made with cruelty-free faux fur fabric and vegan ultra-suede tags on all my products.

My effort to to maintain eco-conscious and cruelty free business practices is exemplary of the values I live my life by and my goal is to share these values with my customers: I want to provide people with cozy knit accessories they can feel good about purchasing.
